DEVELOPING THE FUTURE. Seattle's Elite Youth Soccer Academy - Developing Players The Ajax Way
Eagleclaw Football Academy is the Puget Sound area's elite youth soccer academy focused on developing technically skilled, confident and creative players.
Founded by Seattle youth soccer coach Joe Campos in partnership with Coerver Coaching NW, and now in collaboration with Dutch professional club Ajax through the Ajax Online Academy, Eagleclaw Football Academy's training program develops players through a comprehensive, integrated, Dutch-inspired curriculum.
Eagleclaw training is delivered using the same curriculum employed at Ajax's famed "de Toekomst" youth academy in Amsterdam. At the heart of the Ajax way is the concept of Total Football, a philosophy requiring that all 10 players on the field be technically proficient and comfortable playing any position on the field. The Ajax style of play is attractive, attacking, possession-oriented and highly technical.
We are committed to a positive training environment where development of individual skills is the primary objective, and winning games is merely a byproduct of the players’ development. We are determined that every player who joins Eagleclaw Football Academy will leave as not only a better soccer player, but also a better person.
We offer three main programs:
- Eagleclaw Football Academy - A complete Dutch-inspired soccer education program involving tactical training based on the Ajax youth academy curriculum and technical skills training using the Coerver Method of instruction. (2 training days per week, 3.5 hours of training per week)
- Eagleclaw/Coerver Starfire Campus - A technical skills development program based on the Coerver Method of instruction and provided by Coerver Coaching NW. (1 training day per week, 2 hours of training per week)
- Eagleclaw Tactical Skills Development Program - A program focused on development of tactical skills based on the Ajax youth academy curriculum. (1 training day per week, 1.5 hours of training per week)
Is Eagleclaw Training Right For Your Player?
Eagleclaw Football Academy was created for the player who is ready to take soccer more seriously and do the work necessary to become a more skillful player. The Ajax youth academy training system and the Coerver Method both rely heavily on repetition of core skills and drills. To obtain maximum benefit from this training system, players must focus, listen and perform. Nevertheless, training in this way with players who quickly become your friends can be a very joyful experience. The ideal Eagleclaw Football Academy member has a passion for the game, is a quick learner and has the drive and emotional maturity to do the work necessary to develop technically. Personality is also important. We value young players who bring an infectious positive mental attitude to training and have leadership potential.
There are no try-outs. US Youth Soccer's Player Development Model recommends that try-outs where cuts occur not take place until 13 years of age. It can be devastating to young players at the ages of 5 through 12 to be told they did not make the cut. More importantly, such judgments are often inaccurate, pushing players away from the game at a critical stage in their development.
Who can join?
Our Academy training programs are available to boys and girls between 5-15 years of age. We encourage players to begin training with us at the earliest age possible, since we believe that development of technical skills at an early age helps players maintain confidence and compete as they progress to advanced levels of play.
Eagleclaw Football Academy is club neutral. Joining Eagleclaw Football Academy does not require a player to leave their current club, and we welcome players from any of the local clubs who want to become more technically and tactically skilled players. We encourage players who already belong to a select/premier club to join Eagleclaw Football Academy and take advantage of our year-round curriculum as a way to obtain individual player development training that is often not provided by the local select/premier clubs.
